Full-Time Gig (a.k.a. "My Day Job")

I have worked in the field of Technical Writing since 1993 in various industries (see details on my professional resume page). But it has been my job at Visa since December of 1997 that has been the most important for my career as a writer and now, as a manager. During my years at Visa, I have written and published various technical operations, services/applications, and procedural manuals for Visa employees and member banks. I was recently promoted to a manager in my group and am learning a different aspect of our business.

As a technical writer, some of my greatest accomplishments have been:
  • creating documentation and quality records to support an ISO-certified Operations department through 5 years of compliance.
  • creating and maintaining an internal website that hosts internal operations and third-party vendor technical documentation.
  • documenting online help for a new internal financial application used company-wide.
  • serving as lead writer and authoring team lead for a nine-volume Operating Regulations library, plus four Spanish volumes. This library is published in XML bi-annually for Visa International and its 22,000 members in five regional markets worldwide.
I have been a member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC) since 1997.

Visa is a great company to work for and I am grateful for the skills I have learned there. I am hopeful that as a manager I can continue to be an important contributor to Visa's Technical Communications Services group.

Remember, Life Takes Visa!
