| I am very lucky to share my life with Jim Nugent, my best friend and husband. He is a gem that wandered into my life back in early 2000 and I've had the greatest time since! |

How We Met
I met Jim while working at Visa. He worked for a consulting company (Accenture) that was doing a large project at my company. I was the lead writer from the Visa side, and Jim's group worked closely with mine to get new processes documented and published for the new system.
At the time I was in Godspell, which just happened to be one of Jim's family's favorite shows. He'd never seen a professional production of it, so approached me to ask details.
Jim actually lived in Boulder, Colorado at the time, but was in San Francisco during the week for work. He said he'd like to stay in SF through a weekend to see my show. This led to numerous emails about all the sites in San Francisco Bay Area I recommended that he should also see, which eventually led to...
Our First Date
Officially it
was April 15, 2000. We went to a Hitchcock double feature at the University Theatre near Stanford. We saw The Trouble With Harry (a hilarious movie and Shirley MacLaine's introductory film) and Psycho.
After the movie, neither of us wanted the night to end, so we went out for drinks till the bar closed, then to Denny's for coffee till a fight broke out, then back to Jim's car talking until 6am!
After that, we were pretty much inseparable. I remember always feeling "in the moment" when I was with Jim. I was never thinking (or worrying) about the past or future. I always seemed to be present in his company. Jim saw Godspell five times (three of them with my Mother who also came out for the show). Jim and Journey hit it off famously, and that was pretty much the deciding point for me! |
The Rest of the Story
Jim and I got engaged Memorial Day weekend, 2003 while in North Carolina on vacation. (Jim surprised me again the next day at a Durham Bulls game with a scoreboard message that said, "Judy said yes!").
We postponed our wedding after deciding to relocate to Austin, Texas with Judy's company. After a year in Austin, we began planning.
We married in Ireland November 8, 2005
surrounded by our closest family and friends who joined us for five days in a real castle!
See details on our wedding website.
For more information on our family and news since then, including the arrival of our daughters Eleanor (November 8, 2006) and Margaret (November 1, 2011), visit our family website. |
